Reflecting

I have been thinking lately about those people close to me and the connection and meaning they have to me.  I have to say I am VERY blessed!

First I have my family, my immediate family and extended family that does not live near me.  I am very loved and I feel that love every single day.  The best part is that they love me for me and who I am and for that I am very grateful.

Then there are my friends that I have in my life.  Being on the web for 11 years I have had a LOT of friends come into my life and they leave with such simple ease that it sometimes makes me want to evaluate myself and what kind of friend I am being.  I have come to realize that those people that can come and go so easy in my life were never really my friend to begin with, if they were it would not be so easy for them to just dispose of our friendship.  I know I am by no means a perfect person, but I do think I am a good person.  I always treat people the way I would want to be treated and this I do everyday with everyone I come in contact with and not just my friends.  My real friends know me and know that I am not the one that is going to sit on the phone and just gossip and stir the pot.  I can NOT stand the gossip and just catty BS that some people are into and my real friends know this and share the similar traits :)

Faith and Jack are probably the best friends that we have and I love them dearly.  I know that they would be there for me if I ever truly needed anything.  As with any friendship there are times when we don't always see eye to eye, but you always know where you stand with them and there is never any BS.  Love you guys.

My Bunco group is a fun group of girls and we always laugh and have a great evening and they are trying to talk me into a Vegas trip with them in early November.

Also, I have been going out with a group from work for Happy Hour.  We have one planned for Sept 10 and then in October we are doing a girls night in at my house so that everyone can drink and just spend the night and not have to worry about driving.   

Lastly I have some of the best members and friends ever here on the web.  Some of them I consider true friends and I know I will stay in contact with even after I leave the web sometime in the future.. Thanks everyone.

So in reflecting on things in and the people in my life I think I am very blessed.  There is nothing like surrounding yourself with special people and people that genuinely care about you.

Pet Peeves

Last night I was at the Tempe Arts Center seeing a live airing of Diggnation.com and after using the public restrooms I decided I was going to start posting my "pet peeves".

As I mentioned above, I got this idea after using the public restrooms..  so this is why!  It irritates me to know end to open the stall and see the sanitary toilet tissue still on the seat.  The person before me was worried about using the seat and used one of the sanitary sheets, ok no problem.  But what pisses me off is that it bothered her the thought of sitting on the seat, but yet she doesn't make sure the tissue goes down with her flush.  I hate seeing that on the seat left from the previous user.

So if you use a sheet, have the courtesy to make sure if flushes before you leave the stall.

At Diggnation Live In Tempe, AZ 19-Aug-09

Last night Rob and I got a real treat! We attended the Diggnation Live Show in Tempe, AZ. We are both huge fans of Digg and Diggnation and Rob has watched the show since Episode #1. So seeing last nights show was a real treat. This all came about through the wonders of social networking. Rob and I knew the show was coming to town and since it is a free show tickets are always hard to come by unless you are able to to stand in line for hours. Since Rob had to work all day standing in line was not an option. Rob got a hold of one of the guys on the show via twitter and through the wonders of social networking managed to score some tickets. It was so AWESOME because Rob and I were on the guest list and able to sit just a few rows back dead center in front the stage. The house was packed and we would have never had this opportunity if it wasn't for contacting the guys through twitter, so thank you and you know who you are! How are ya?

So, how are ya?  What have you been up to lately?  How did you spend your summer??  Any fun trips?? 

So I have been doing things around the house instead of doing any trips this summer and I still have more to go.  Going to paint my master bedroom and put in new flooring as well as the guest room and my son's room. 

I have a busy couple of weeks coming up, well weekends anyway.  Friday is Bunco night with the girls and Saturday a party at Faith's house.  The following weekend a party at Faith's for the Track workers.  September I have a happy hour for one of the girls bday, I am planning a trip home and we have a track weekend again oh yeah and a Meet & Greet.  It seems like forever since we have had one here in Phoenix and I am looking forward to it for sure.  So if you are in the Phoenix area or are planning a trip we would love to meet ya and have a drink with ya..  http://www.funinphoenix.com

We were out of a/c over the weekend and I am so glad to have it back and working..  a bit expensive but we are back in business.

Why?

Why are weekends just two days and work days are 5??  I had a great weekend, I worked on Saturday and Saturday night we had a pool party and everyone was suppose to wear Elvis Glasses.  Well some of the guest did and some did not, but oh it was fun.  We have some pics and I will share some later.   We did not get to bed until 4:10 am, ugh..  And then all day yesterday we just chilled, hehe. 

I also got a pedi on Saturday, you know how I like my toes to look nice )

This week school started back, and we are all glad for that, my son was bored and ready to go back. 

I am ready to start the next project at my house, and thinking it is my sons room.  Need to remove the carpet, prime the walls (they are red now) and then repaint and lay the flooring :)  But first he needs to pick out a color he wants.

Increase in snake population

Ok you all know how I feel about this subject!!  YIKES, I think I will be staying in for a bit, hehe

The separation between desert wildlife and suburbia is narrowing in some neighborhoods, where rattlesnakes are an increasingly common sight.

Landscapers recently informed the Community Association that they are seeing increasingly rattlers while working, and some of them were seen just a few feet from sidewalks.

"We're not going out of our way to find these snakes," said Chris Scheurell, a manager at Landmark Land Management, who added that on a recent day, workers spotted seven rattlesnakes.

The monsoons and a few consecutive successful mating seasons have caused the snake population growth, said Russ Johnson, president of the Phoenix Herpetological Society.

"It's cyclical," he said. "Good years mean a lot more interaction with people."

Johnson said the past few monsoon seasons in the Valley have brought decent rain, thus causing more grass seed, which rodents eat. The increased food supply leads to more rats, which is a staple in a snake's diet.

Johnson said his group receives an average of 15 calls a day from residents who have spotted a 6-foot-long snake in their yard. But Johnson said most rattlesnakes are less than 5 feet long.

"I usually take the decibels in their voice and divide it by the length that they give me to determine how big the snake was," he joked.

Johnson said residents will notice even more snakes this month as eggs hatch. He said residents should be particularly careful around the baby snakes because they have just as much venom but only one rattle, so their warning may not be audible.

Chad Blostone, vice president of the Foothills board of directors, is working with Phoenix City Councilman Sal DiCiccio to inform residents of the snakes.

"They just need to be cognizant that we have snakes living around us," he said.

If you do find a snake in your yard, you can call the Phoenix Herpetological Society to remove it to the desert for a $75 tax-deductible contribution.

It costs about $100,000 to be treated for a rattlesnake bite, Johnson said. Only seven to 10 people nationally die each year from rattlesnake bites.

"But a rattlesnake bite is still extremely painful and costly," he said.

Finally done

Well we finally finished the remodel in our living & dining room as well as the laundry room too.  It is all painted, new carpet on the stairs and hallway upstairs and cabinets finally hung in the laundry room and window film put on a few windows in the area too..  Now next remodel is my sons room, that is once he figures out what color he wants to paint his room.  Oh yeah, Rob installed a ceiling fan on the back porch.

This week I have some crazy hours at work, some longer than normal days too.  I have a doctor's check up on Tuesday and Cam Thursday and we are having a pool party on Saturday.  So I have a few things I want to do around the house before the party.  But the party should be lots of fun, everyone is suppose to wear Elvis Glasses so it should be a hoot, I will be sure to get a pic or two to share.

The heat in Phoenix has been simply CRAZY!  This past July was noted as the hottest July on record and frankly I am sick of the heat.  I tried to get a bit of sun today, but after about 35 minutes it was simply to hot to stay outside.

The next Meet & Greet has been scheduled for Sept 26, be sure to come out and meet us for a drink and a topless shot, hehe
